PURCHASING QUESTIONS

What is your return/refund/exchange policy for puppies and transactions?

We will only consider partial refunds of the purchase amount if there is a congenital health issue that has been properly and formally documented by your veterinarian and has been reviewed by our veterinarians. Returns, refunds, or exchanges of puppies or reservation/final purchase amounts will not be considered if the issue at hand is about size, weight, or personality since these are not variables that we cannot guarantee or have control over once the puppy has been delivered to the new owner and has been under the new owner’s own willful care.

Is there a contract that I sign?

Yes. There is a legal contract that is sent where both Itsy Puppy and the client sign for it to become effective. This contract outlines everything that is expected out of the new owner and the duties Itsy Puppy will provide for the puppy until delivery to ensure a healthy puppy. This contract must be signed and returned prior to delivery or pickup without exception.

I want to move forward with purchasing a puppy. How do I do that?

We typically receive the first 50% of the purchase price as a down payment on the puppy so please ask for an invoice as soon as you have made your decision! We will email you an invoice via our Paypal merchant account. This payment is your way of telling us that you have made the decision and want to move forward with making preparations for receiving the puppy within the next few weeks. This also disallows other people from being able to purchase the puppy for themselves. Unfortunately, we are able to send invoices to more than one person even if they are interested in the same puppy because based on our experience, not every person who says they will move forward with a puppy follows through with what they say unfortunately. Whoever pays the invoice first then becomes the rightful future owner for the puppy, and we thank you for your understanding in advance.

How do I know if the puppy I’m receiving is the puppy that I chose?

We are able to send real-time video footage of pups on request. Please give us at least 24 hours to send these because taking proper videos and uploading large files take time away from our care of other pups and responsibilities. We will do our best to respond as soon as time is sparing. Also, we wouldn’t be able to be in business if we didn’t make sure you receive the puppy you choose!

Will I receive pedigree paperwork?

Unfortunately the AKC has not acknowledged the teacups or micro teacups as a group, as they outline the breed characteristics and standards for show purposes. Due to this, pedigree has not been an important factor for our clients or us when it comes to our special classification. 100% of our pups are for domestic household pets, now showdogs.

Will I receive some sort of vaccination history on my puppy?

Yes. The paperwork that has dated each DHPP vaccination and dewormer administration from 7 weeks and onward will be sent either digitally via email prior to shipment or physically attached onto the travel crate when we ship. Please note that we administer the DHPP vaccination on our premises, but we go to a local APHIS-certified veterinarian for any health checks until delivery.

Is there a health guarantee on Itsy Puppies?

Yes. Itsy Puppy will consider replacing puppies partial refunds of the purchase amount for up to the first year of the puppy’s life if the puppy delivered has been found to have any congenital disease. This does not include bacterial infections, common illnesses of the breed or hypoglycemia.

Do you guarantee adult size or weights of the puppies being sold?

Although it is impossible to guarantee the adult weight or size of the pups, but we do our best to give an anticipated number based on the bitch and stud. Weight and size are two non-correlative variables as well since different breeds exhibit different patterns and tendencies in bone mass, growth spurts, etc. Most of our puppies will have a growth spurt and then settle back a little in weight once they reach adult maturity. We will give our advice when it comes to feeding instructions to help, but it is up to the new owner to follow them once we have delivered the puppy.

How will I receive my puppy?

We use the pet transport programs at United and Delta for our shipping services. We use their services because they are specially equipped with wonderful staff and boarding facilities onsite at their cargo facilities that are specially focused on pets and pet travel services, such as onsite kenneling and separate pet holding areas.

When will I receive my puppy?

After clients make a reservation deposit on a puppy, they typically wait until they are about 11-12 weeks before they receive their new babies. Because our dogs get reserved at various ages, we will inform you of the best time for delivery for that particular puppy after looking at the vaccination schedule. This wait period is the time when our Itsy team will be busy taking everyone to get their current vaccinations, health checks, socializing them with other pups, and preparing them for their upcoming flights.

Can anyone purchase an Itsy puppy?

You must be at least 18 years of age to sign a legal contract and make a purchase. We are very selective about who our pups go home to so please understand that just because you have contacted us, we are obligated to do business with you.

TEACUP CARE

How should I housetrain my new puppy once I receive him/her?

We make an effort to get them familiarized with paper pads until they go to their new homes.  However, this is not enough time spent on their housetraining capabilities as most dog owners will agree. Please consider hiring a trainer or taking your puppy to puppy classes. You, your home, location and climate, your kids, husband, friends are all different and new smells for your puppy so he/she will need some time to readjust and follow the new house rules and training that you have in mind for him/her. Please be patient and remember that consistency is key and absolutely no shouting! They know how to distinguish between a praise vs. low and quick “no” voice.

What about future vaccinations?

The future vaccinations will be recommended on the vaccination paperwork we send.

When do I socialize my puppy?

Start as soon as possible! The earlier the better, and the more frequent the better as well. Socialization isn’t an “all or nothing” project. You can socialize a puppy a bit, a lot, or a whole lot. The wider the range of experiences you expose him to, the better his chances are of being comfortable in a wide variety of situations as an adult. Socialization is a big project. It requires exposure to the types of people, animals, places, sounds and experiences that you expect your dog to be comfortable in later in life. Depending on the lifestyle you have planned for your dog, this might include the sight and sound of trains, garbage trucks, schoolyards of screaming children, crowds, cats, livestock or crying infants. Just use common sense and make sure your puppy is staying current on his/her vaccinations and that puppy classes are a great idea!

When do I switch my teacup puppy to adult food from puppy food?

Their growth spurts begin about the 4 month mark so we usually switch and begin integrating adult kibbles into their food around this time. We also switch to feeding them twice a day instead of three times a day, adjusting with a few kibble snacks if they are needing some help transitioning.

When does an Itsy Puppy teacup puppy reach adulthood?

Teacup puppies are NOT the same as regular puppies that most vets are used to seeing so they will mostly tell you their advice based on a 1 year, puppy-to-adult timeline. Larger dogs reach maturity slower than smaller dogs and teacup puppies reach maturity even faster. According to The Nest, Cesar Milan and various veterinarians, physical maturity refers to when your pooch reaches his adult height, which varies by breed. In general, smaller breeds up to 30 pounds are typically full-grown between 10 and 12 months of age, while medium-sized breeds up to 80 pounds take one year to 16 months. Large breeds over 80 pounds can continue to grow until they’re 2 years old! In this respect, teacups and micro teacups will reach maturity a lot faster and finish their development a lot faster. To our knowledge, our teacups usually finish growing about the 7-8 months mark.

How many times do I feed my Itsy puppy?

Every puppy is different and new owners need to adjust for their puppies that is best suitable for them. We will send you specific instructions about how much and how many times per day for feeding by the time they are about to be delivered. Typically however, the feeding schedule is about 1-2 tablespoons of dry puppy kibbles twice a day for puppies going home around 12-16 weeks old.

When should I get my puppy spayed/neutered?

Sometime near 5 months old has been the general consensus suggested by our veterinarians who are experienced with teacup puppies. This is because they reach their first heat around this time.
